As mentioned in my previous post…
“Don’t pray for money anymore. Pray for wisdom and you’ll never have trouble with money again.”
It’s a simple message, but it is life changing. The problem up until that point is we had constantly prayed for money over and over again. There were times we had received a small financial blessing here and there, but they never got us out of the problem. The problem was always there and continually got worse.
This will sound harsh to someone who may be in the same situation we were, but you’ve to make a commitment to changing your financial life. So here goes. The problem wasn’t money. The problem was us. If God would have somehow dropped the money we were praying for down in our lap, it would have helped for a while. Within a year we would have gotten ourselves back into the same type of horrible situation.
We would have then been praying for another financial miracle to break us out of our bondage again. Nothing would have changed if we had received the money we had been praying for immediately. I wouldn’t be writing this book now and I would still be in debt living in a cheap poorly taken care of rental house somewhere.
Besides that, it would have been IMPOSSIBLE for God to provide us with the money the way we were expecting to receive it. I can hear some of you screaming, “WHAT?” after that last sentence. Yes, I said it would have been IMPOSSIBLE for God to have answered our prayer in the way we were expecting. Now I know what you are thinking. You are probably thinking that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD.
That is correct with one exception. It is impossible for God to lie. He cannot lie. It is against His very nature to ever lie.
“In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;”
What does this have to do with our prayers you may ask? It is simple really. We were praying for financial blessings, yet there were areas in our life that guaranteed we would stay poor. Throughout the Bible God gives very specific instructions about how to become wealthy…and also how to stay poor.
We were following HIS instructions for being poor in many situations. God could not financially bless us until we started changing. Our mindset had to change. Our actions had to change. How and why we gave to others had to change. We had to learn God’s system. That is why we had to pray for wisdom. Wisdom would bring the wealth along with it.
“Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”
Wisdom is the principal thing. Principal here means, “the first, in place, time, order, and rank.” Wisdom is the first thing you should be concentrating on. It is the important thing for you to concentrate on to change your life. Wisdom will bring you the money you want and need in your life.
Wisdom is the “practical application of knowledge.” It’s knowing how to apply what you know to your daily life. You may have knowledge of a subject such as knowing or memorizing certain Bible verses, but do you know how to apply them to your daily life? That is wisdom.
How to Receive Wisdom From God
The Scripture I received my revelation from was this one over in James:
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
God promises here He will give you wisdom liberally as long as you ask in faith with nothing wavering. This means you have to pray to God in faith without any doubt or unbelief. You simply believe when you pray that God will answer your prayer and provide you with the wisdom you need in your daily life.
There is a second step to receiving wisdom from God. You must pray and ask for it, but you must also study to receive knowledge. Since wisdom is knowing how to apply knowledge, it won’t do you any good if you don’t spend your time also studying to find out what God tells you about your finances.
“For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.”
Begin studying the Word of God to find out what God has to say about wisdom, foolishness, finances, business, real estate, jobs, giving, tithing, receiving, and every other subject that has to do with your financial life. In the future, I will talk about what God has taught me regarding wisdom and finances, but pray and study all these subjects for yourself.
James chapter one tells us that we should all be praying for wisdom…Are you obeying this daily?
I forget to do this at times…and I never like the results. It seems everything becomes more difficult. Problems become difficult. Once I go back to this basic principle, it has always worked out.
